Royals lose in 5 sets to Mpls Southwest in section Semi Finals

The 2010 season came to an end for Hopkins when they lost to the Mpls SW Lakers 2-3 (22-25,25-19,14-25,25-21,15-17) at Benilde-St Margaret's on Monday November 1st.

The Royals (#3) beat Benilde St Margaret's (#6) at Minneapolis Southwest on Friday night Oct 29th.

The score was 3-1 (25-14, 24-26, 25-13, 25-20).

 

Hopkins sweeps Edina to end the 2010 regular season

Tuesday October 19th at the Hopkins Lindbergh Center - The Royals varsity beat Edina 3-0 (25-17,25-14,25-13) to close out the regular season with 14 wins and 13 losses.

The JV also beat Edina 2-0 (25-20,25-10).

The B squad also won in 2 sets. The 9A team also won but the 9B team lost to Edina.

 

After the varsity match ended there was a Senior Night presentation followed by cake and lemonade.

The Royals won their first match at 6:15 pm on Friday against Andover. The score was 2-1 (25-19,21-25,15-4).

They played again at 8:45 pm on Friday, this time they lost to Bloomington Jefferson, who is currently ranked third in class AAA. The score was 0-2 (10-25,17-25).

In their last match they beat Chaska 2-0 (25-23,25-19), which put them at 7th place in the tournament.

This was a very tough field, 5 of the 6 teams that finished above Hopkins are ranked in AAA top ten.

Saturday Oct 9th - Royals Varsity 3rd at Lakeville North Tournament

The Hopkins varsity volleyball team put the tournament scheduling problems behind them and beat New Prague 20 (25-13,25-20) at 6:15pm Friday evening. Later they beat Jordan in three sets, 2-1 (17-25,26-24,19-17). On Saturday, at 10:45 am they played tournament host Lakeville North who are currently ranked #1 in class AAA in the state. Hopkins lost the match 0-2 (12-25, 17-25). Their last match was the 3rd place match against Owatonna. The Royals won that match 2-0 (25-15, 25-23) to take third place out of the 15 teams in the tournament.

 

The Hopkins JV played went 1 and 1 on Friday night. They also won one and lost one on Saturday. They finished 6th in the JV tournament.

The Hopkins varsity lost to Wayzata 0-3 (23-25,16-25,22-25)

The JV Royals lost in 2 sets 0-2 (19-25,20-25)

The Hopkins B squad lost in 3 sets 1-2 (25-14,21-25,7-15)

The 9A team lost in 2 sets, 9B team lost in 3 sets.

 

Tuesday Oct 5th - Royals over Minnetonka

The Hopkins varsity beat the Skippers 3-1 (25-12, 18-25, 25-21, 25-18).

The JV Royals lost 1-2 (26-24,21-25,10-15)

The Hopkins B squad won 2-1 (25-10,22-25,15-9)

9A and 9B both lost in 3 sets.

 

Monday Oct 4th - Hopkins varsity falls to Mpls Southwest in 3 sets

The scores were 0-3 (22-25,22-25,17-25).

The Royals JV also lost 0-2.

The B squad and 9th grade A team both won in 2 sets.

 

Thursday Sept 30 - All Hopkins teams win at Edina

The Royals varsity swept Edina 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-22).

The JV beat Edina 2-1 (23-25, 25-21, 15-13).

The Hopkins B squad swept 2-0 (25-14, 26-24).

The 9th grade teams also swept Edina. 9A won 2-0 (25-15, 25-10), and the 9B won 2-0 (25-7, 25-13).

 

Tuesday Sept 28 - Hopkins loses to Eden Prairie

Varsity lost to Eden Prairie 1-3 (14-25, 23-25, 25-22, 23-25)

Hopkins JV lost 0-2 (22-25, 18-25)

Royals B squad lost in 3 sets.

9A & 9B both lost in two sets.

 

Saturday Sept 25 - Hopkins 9A took 3rd at Mound Westonka Tournament

The Royals won their play-off game in the afternoon to get 3rd place. Congratulations girls!

Coach Westerham said: "The 9a girls placed 3rd at the Mound Westonka Tournament. They beat Orono in 2 games, beat Litchfield in 3 games, lost a close match to Mayer Lutheran and then went on to beat Mound Westonka for the consolation championship."

 

Tuesday Sept 21 - at Wayzata High School

The Hopkins Varsity lost to Wayzata in four sets 1-3 (25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 14-25)

The Royals JV lost in three sets.

The B Squad lost in 2 sets.

9A lost in 2 sets. 9B WON in 3 sets.

 

Saturday Sept 18^th - B squad wins Lakeville North tournament

Pool play: Hopkins beat Spring Lake Park all 3 games; 25-17, 25-15, 25-8

                Hopkins played Owatonna and won 2 out of 3 games; 25-12, 25-18, 23-25

Playoffs:   Hopkins played Eastview and won in 2; 25-17, 27-25

    Hopkins played Mankato West for first place in the tournament and won in 2; 25-15, 25-21

Saturday Sept 18^th - JV places 2nd in Burnsville JV Jam

This pdf file has details. They beat St Michael-Albertville in round 1, then Richfield in round 3 and Champlin Park in round 6 to win their pool. In the Championship round match against Burnsville they won but then lost the final match in 3 sets.

 

Thursday Sept 16^th - Royals beat Skippers at Minnetonka HS

The Royals varsity swept the Skippers 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-16).

The JV won in 3 sets 1-2 (18-25, 25-21, 15-10).

The B squad won in 2 sets 2-0 (25-15, 25-18).

9A lost and 9B won.

 

Monday Sept 13^th - All Hopkins teams win big over Benilde-St Margaret's

The Varsity swept BSM 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-12), a margin of 36 points.

The JV won 2-0 (25-12, 25-21). The B Squad won in a sweep, 2-0 (25-11, 25-18)

 

Saturday Sept 11 - Hopkins JV placed 3rd in Blaine tournament 

 

Royals B Squad won the Burnsville B-Squad Bash Volleyball tournament

B-Squad Coach Jason Uller said “B squad won without dropping a game the entire day”.

Royals lose three matches on Saturday – finished in 8^th Place

Hopkins scored more points by a margin of 3, but the Marshall Tigers won more sets - 1-2 (25-18,25-27,15-17)

Royals lost to Andover 0-2 (19-25,23-25). Last match the Royals lost in two sets to Hutchinson 0-2 (13-25,21-25).

Friday Sept 10th - Varsity wins two matches Friday at Marshall

Hopkins had no trouble with the Lincoln HI Rebels, in two sets (25-8, 25-7) and beat the Burnsville Blaze (25-18, 25-22).

 

Tuesday Sept 7th Varsity, JV and 9A all win at Orono

The Royals varsity won in 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-14, 25-19)

JV won in two 2-0 (25-8,25-16).

 9A won in two sets.

 

Thursday Sept 2nd @ Shakopee

The Hopkins Royals shocked Shakopee tonight by charging out and winning the first two sets. 25-21, 25-21.

Hopkins had a chance to sweep three time AAA state champs, but lost set 3 by the same score 21-25.

Hopkins had an even better chance to win the fourth set. We lead 22-18 and lost the match 22-25.

Then Shakopee won the last set 9-15.

The Hopkins B squad won in 3 sets (17-25, 25-13, 25-6).

The Royals JV lost to Shakopee (23-25, 17-25).

9A and 9B lost.

 

The Royals opened the 2010 season at Centennial on Wed Sept 1st.

The Varsity lost to Centennial in 5 sets. 2-3 (25-23, 27-29, 17-25, 25-21, 10-15)

The JV won their match 2-0 (25-20,25-14)

The B squad also won   2-0 (25-15,25-8)

Hopkins finished 5th out of 32 in pre-season tournament

One possible version of the 2010 Hopkins Royals varsity volleyball team placed 5th in the first annual Minnesota Elite Preseason Tournament at Midwest Volleyball Warehouse Saturday August 7th.

 

They won their pool, beating Andover (25-14,25-16), Byron (25-15,25-18) and last year's Class A champion, Bethlehem Academy in pool play to advance to the gold bracket. They lost to Shakopee 15-25, 21-25.
